Be Part Of The Solution
The issue of Human Trafficking has become one of the greatest travesties of our times. Today the United Nations reports on a global scale approximately 2 million people are taken into the sex trade every year and at any given time over 20 million people are enslaved. Nearly 100,000 children a year are taken from Eastern Europe alone either into the sex trade or for life-threatening unpaid jobs. Today human trafficking nets organized crime billions of dollars nearly equal to the illegal sale of drugs and arms. Young people are targeted around the world especially in countries where there is corruption and poverty.
Ukraine is a hotspot for people being lured into human trafficking and is one of the largest ‘exporters’ of young women who enter the international sex industry either under false pretenses or for economic survival.
What are the threats in Ukraine?
Who is at risk for sexual exploitation?
Currently our focus is in Ukraine and is the building of a live-in safehouse for youth at risk of being trafficked. Many girls are fooled by false advertisements offering well-paying work as housekeepers, dancers or models. Later, their passports are taken from them and they are forced, often violently, into prostitution and/or posing for websites. We believe each of us can become a solution to this problem often by joining forces with organizations who indeed are TAKING ACTION.
NASHI is TAKING ACTION. Founded in 2004 around a kitchen table we have become a group of dedicated volunteers, with no staff, but taking action against this tragedy. As a Canadian registered charity we are working locally and internationally. In Canada we speak about the brutal details and realities of trafficking. We hold conferences and seminars to make Canadians aware of this travesty.
Victor Malarek well-known CTV journalist, author and supporter of NASHI states:
"Everyone on this fragile planet has the capacity to reach out and touch the soul of someone less fortunate. If everyone did this, what an amazing world it would be. NASHI, and its devoted coterie of volunteers, have taken on a daunting task with a deep sense of mission and driving spirit. From Saskatoon, all the way across the Atlantic Ocean to Lviv, Ukraine, NASHI makes an incredible difference in the lives of so many abandoned orphans in Ukraine. They are to be commended for their work and their selfless dedication."
We invite you into our website to become familiar with our work and to better understand our project. We would also appreciate your donation and your membership to NASHI.
